Uncle Harry...

I send my love to you Margaret and to your family from Denise, Taro and I on this the day of Harry's funeral. I have three fond memories that I will always hold clear in my mind and deep in my heart of my Uncle Harry Blaney: 1. Yourself and Margaret served as host to my first experience as a small boy of a Blaney political rally, creosote torches, procession, and a crowded square in Rosnakill where Neill got up on a flat-bed truck and addressed the crowd to triumphal roars of devotion. You fed me my first Guinness at the feast afterward. 2. I cherish the memory of listening to you and Teddy at Joanne's wedding talking about your Celtic FC days (I was ordered off the Guinness for the night by the bride -- and you and Teddy were probably in on it). 3. I have a wonderful photograph that my son Taro (then 3 or 4 years old) took of you Harry at Noelle's wedding at the Inn; You took to him in such a familial way, and he to you that will forever bring the bond in him back to Donegal. I love you Harry and wish you swift passage to that great rally in the sky.

Love, John Blaney O'Halloran

No truer gentleman
Our love and thoughts to all his family, especially Margaret. He was a beautiful man, whom I feel humbled to have as an uncle. His humility, kindness and generosity to others less fortunate and to those around him are the traits of a great man. I will remember him with great fondness. Hilary Paul Hopkins and family.
