Fondest wishes of Elisabeth

We have just found out - and so sad that some of us (John and Mercy) have been in Australia for the last seven weeks and could not offer comfort and encouragement to all the Hartys these past few days. We mourn Elisabeth but are richer for knowing her, whether it was picking apples in the orchard, chatting in the kitchen at Roundhill or by the fire at Jubilee Cottage,or starting the New Year in a masse ramble of family, friends and dogs.

Fondest wishes to Jonathan, Peter and Aubrey - from Suzanne, Simon, John and Mercy

Elizabeth was a lady!

Whenever I visited Elizabeth in Tullyroan I always had the feeling "I am coming home". Elizabeth and her great personality, her generosity her great humour was always an attraction to me. I would like to give all my sympathy and respect to those who lost their mother, sister, cousin, aunt or a good friend. I belong to one of them. But with the loss of Elizabeth I have also lost a well known Northern Irish home. And this makes me very very sad.

Christina Hassenstein, Hilterfingen, Switzerland

We are so immensely sad

It is with deepest regret we learned of the passing of dearest Elizabeth. We do offer our very deepest sympathy to her family. We mourn together with all of you for the loss of a gentle and lovely person with a great personality.

Elizabeth Harty will leave a large hole in our lives. We will miss her many visits to Switzerland and our trips to Tullyroan to see her. Since we were small children, there has been a very special bond between our family in Switzerland and Elizabeth’s family in Ireland.

We have such happy memories of Elizabeth, which we will hold close to our hearts forever.

We are so sad.

Loving thoughts to her family and friends,

Cornelia and Ian Dawson, Zurich, Switzerland

A force of nature

I cannot believe that she has left us because she was the most 'alive' person I have had the good fortune to know. Elizabeth was unstintingly generous in giving love and looking after the many souls who crossed her path. She was like a mother to me and many other lost soldiers who basked in the warmth of her presence. The craic shared across her kitchen table with bread fresh straight from the oven will never be forgotten. A priceless giving soul, God has reclaimed one of his own.
