GAFFNEY, Ethna (née O'Malley) (Booterstown) - September 29, 2011 (peacefully) in the devoted care of the staff at St Vincent's University Hospital, Dublin, formerly Professor of Chemistry at the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland, was the beloved wife of the late Dr James C. Gaffney, loving mother of Eoin, Michael, Phyllis and the late Patrick; very sadly missed by her children, her sister Sheila Mulloy (Westport) and brother Brian O'Malley (Canada), her brothers-in-law Maurice Gaffney SC and Johnny Mulloy, her sisters-in-law Leonie Gaffney and Elizabeth O'Malley, daughters-in-law Deirdre and Anne, son-in-law Cormac, her grandchildren Léan, Naoise, Órla, Elizabeth, James, Róisín, Eoin, Catherine, Christine and Ciaran, her great-grandchildren Oisín and Fiachra, her many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Reposing at home from 2 p.m. tomorrow (Saturday) followed by removal to the Church of the Assumption, Booterstown, arriving at 4.30 p.m. Funeral Mass at 10 o'clock on Monday followed by burial in Glasnevin Cemetery. Family flowers only please. Donations if desired to Biobank Ireland Trust (cancer research), 5 Clarendon Mews, Lad Lane, Dublin 2.Requiescat in pace.
