GROGAN Ger (Phibsborough and late of the Institute of Public Administration, Lansdowne Road) - Our dear Ger left us on June 9, 2013 in the excellent care of the wonderful staff of the Mater Private Hospital. Beloved brother of Mary (Pratt), Angela (Moffat) and the late Michael. Sadly missed by his sisters, Deirdre, close family and friends. Ger was a much loved and loving man who touched the lives of many people. We are sad to say goodbye to Ger but happy that his spirit now soars free. Ger will be waked at his home from 3 o'c to 8 o'c today (Monday) and everyone is welcome. Funeral Mass tomorrow (Tuesday) morning at 10 o'c in St. Joseph's Church, Berkeley Road and afterwards he will be laid to rest with his parents in Dardistown Cemetery, Old Swords Road. Flowers are welcome as Ger loved them."May he rest in peace"
GROGAN Ger (Phibsboro, Dublin died June 9, 2013) - As it approaches his First Anniversary, we, his sisters Mary (Pratt) and Angela (Moffat) would like to thank everyone who sympathised with us on the sad occasion of Ger's untimely passing. We thank all of you who attended his wake or funeral, some of you travelling long distances to do so, all of you who sent us floral tributes, Mass cards, letters and emails of condolence and those who called to our houses. A heartfelt thank you to Ger's circle of very loyal friends who supported him tirelessly from the moment his illness was diagnosed and often raised his spirits. Ger had great affection for you all. Grateful appreciation also to all the staff of the Institute of Public Administration, Lansdowne Road, both past and present, who turned out in such large numbers to say goodbye to Ger. He would have felt greatly honoured. Sincere thanks to Ger's old pals in Charleville Tennis Club, many of whom also showed up. Its a pity he never got to have that last pint with you! Thanks to all the nursing staff at the Mater Private who made Ger as comfortable as they could on his regular visits to hospital. He really appreciated it. A special word of thanks to the two stalwart firemen who stayed with us until Ger was admitted when he was rushed to hospital on June 3rd and the sensitive young doctor in A&E who saw to it that Ger was admitted to a ward where he was known. Grateful appreciation also to Mary Flynn for arranging the beautiful music for the funeral Mass and to Fr. Pat of St. Joseph's, Berkley Road for choosing the liturgy and of course, to our cousin, Coleman O'Reilly who delivered such a lovely eulogy. Ger would have been very proud. Finally, we would like to take this opportunity to say what a privilege and delight it was to have Ger for a brother. As well as all the love he gave us down through the years he also taught us the true meaning of courage, dignity and spirituality in the way he dealt with his illness. Although we miss Ger's smile and encouraging words, we will always have the treasured memories of fun and laughter that we had together and carry him forever with us in our hearts. May he rest in peace. An Anniversary Mass will be celebrated for Ger tomorrow, Sunday, in St Joseph's, Berkley Road at 10.30. All are welcome.
