Gerry was extremely kind to me when I pitched up in Perth in1988 straight out of college looking for work. She let us stay in Fremantle for as long as it took to get on our feet. I remember the lemon tree in her back garden. Coming from Dublin I had never seen one. She was a kind hearted woman and will be missed.

Loved all over the world

Gerry was loved by people all over the world whose lives she touched through her teaching and her friendship. She had a great gift for opening the minds of young people to the beauty in both nature and humanity. It is so sad that she is gone, but her legacy will always live on in the hearts and minds of those of us she changed forever . . . for the better.

Gerry used to joke about how she would feel more suited to shoveling coal into furnaces than sitting around on a cloud playing a harp . . . wherever she is may the music be as beautiful as the way she touched our lives! Thanks, Gerry, and rest well.

Many prayers and sympathies to her family . . .
