HORGAN John D. (Cóbh, Nigeria, N.W. Mayo, Muine Réidh, Dunmanway) Acknowledgement and First Anniversary. Died on January 15, 2012. John's wife, Catherine, his daughters, Aoife and Niamh, his sister Chris (Fehily) and his sons in law, Michael O Donovan and Tim Deasy, wish to thank sincerely our relatives, friends and neighbours who helped and supported us at the time of John's death and since. Sincere gratitude to our kind neighbours who provided and served refreshments and who dealt with traffic on the evening of John's waking. Your goodness will never be forgotten. We thank those who visited him in hospital, all those who attended his wake at home in Muine Réidh and his funeral in Cóbh, all who wrote to us, telephoned, sent cards and Mass cards and his many former students who contacted us. Your kind words were a comfort and a consolation. We greatly appreciate the participation of John's friend, Domhnall MacCárthaigh, who spoke at the graveside and of Brian Whiteside of the Humanist Association of Ireland, who conducted the burial service. Thank you both. Our thanks to Colin and Raymond Barry, Undertakers, Cóbh, for their efficient management of the funeral arrangements and for their kindness throughout. We greatly appreciate the medical care provided by Dr. William Fennell, the medical, nursing and general nursing staff at the Bon Secour Hospital, Cork, Dr. Conor Kiely of Cóbh, Dr. Tom O Donnell and the doctors, nursing and clerical staff at Dunmanway Medical Centre. We thank Gabriel Ó Cathasaigh for all his help and support. We wish to express our gratitude for the medical care afforded John on his final day by Dr. William Fennell, Nurse Deirdre Blake and the Nursing staff at I.C.U., Bon Secour Hospital, Cork and for the kindness and understanding shown us on that day.
