GROGAN (John) (Ratoath, Co. Meath and Castleknock, Dublin) - September 25, 2009. As we mark three months since John's passing, John's wife Taunya, his children Josh, Jake and Chloe, parents Sean and Mary, brothers Michael and Derek, sister Catherine and parents-in-law Eugene and Anne Gibney, together with the extended family, would like to express their gratitude and thanks to all of those who sympathised and supported us in our sadness and terrible loss. Thank you to all of John's many friends who visited and called during his illness and helped to keep his spirits up. To all of those who supported us during the years of John's illness, who rallied support and prayers each and every time they were asked, and to those who were there with us, physically or spiritually, when John crossed the bridge to a better future. To all of those who called personally to the house when we brought John 'home' to Rathgar and shared their stories and memories of him with us. To the many hundreds of you who travelled from near and far to attend his celebration of life, with special thanks to Fr. Tom McGovern who officiated so wonderfully at the Mass and to his concelebrants, Fr. Paul Lavelle PP, Fr. Bruce Bradley SJ (Clongowes Wood), Fr. Derek Cassidy SJ (Belvedere College), Fr. Michael Sheils SJ (Clongowes Wood), Fr. John Flavin CSSp (St. Mary's College) and Fr. John Bracken. Grateful thanks also to Fr. Gerry Stuart PP, Ratoath, for his hospital visits and beautiful internment service for John in Castleknock. To the various medical teams who cared for John especially Dr John Donohoe, Professor Desmond Carney and his team at the Mater Private, Dr Yvonne O'Meara, Dr Elizabeth Vandenberge and the Haematology team at St James Hospital, with special thanks to Liz Higgins and the nursing staff on Denis Burkitt ward. Thank you to all of the partners and staff of Ernst & Young, especially John's current and former colleagues in his beloved FSG Tax, who held strong to the belief that he would be back. Thanks to all of our colleagues and workplaces, especially Taunya's colleagues in The Communications Clinic, for their support and friendship. Thank you to John's fellow 'Big Boys' and all of his golfing buddies, especially his two best friends Conor and Barry, who walked not only golf courses with John but also the course of his illness with him. To Josh's teachers, Andrea, Carmel & Pauline and the current and former parents at the Schoolhouse Montessori who have provided such invaluable support for Josh during this difficult time. Thank you to all of John's former classmates at Belvedere College and UCD and to the members of the Belvedere PPU for their friendship and support of John over the years. A very, very special thank you to all of our neighbours and friends for their help and continuing acts of kindness. They are much appreciated. Many thanks to Fanagans Funeral Directors for their professionalism, help and gentle guidance during this difficult time. We are very grateful for all of the Mass cards, flowers, letters of sympathy, text messages, phone calls and Mass enrolments that we received. As it would be difficult to thank everyone individually we trust that this acknowledgement will be accepted by all with our sincere appreciation. The Holy Sacrifice of the Mass has been offered for your intentions.
Our lives are forever changed
for having known him,
and forever changed
for having lost him.
He is loved and missed.
