To our Aunt Siun whom we called Siun. I often think of you especially your drawings and paintings and love of Matisse. Your pen and ink drawings of the people at prayer and in coffee shops and hotels are a record of a long ago and rarefied Dublin before the historical changes of the past 30 years. You were a true believer and lived a quiet, kind and giving life. I can remember sitting in your Morris Minor as we drove around Dublin with your Jack Russell called Timmy O'Connor. You used to cross yourself when we passed a church and Timmy barked at every dog that we passed in the street. You danced when you made afternoon tea. May you rest in eternal peace.

Sharon O'Connor - your niece - Joe's eldest

Wonderful kind person
I had the pleasure of working with Siun from 1980 to 1987. She was a kind, warm and very thoughtful person. She had myself and some colleagues to her house for dinner on a number of occasions. I have a beautiful icon of Our Lacy that she gave me for a wedding present. It has taken pride of place in our home over the last 27 + years. Looking at it this evening prompted me to google her name and I found this page. I am glad that she is remembered - she would be delighted. Her family meant a lot to her and she often spoke of her brother and his artistic success. I for one am glad to have known Siun and her memory will survive as long as I do. God bless. Mary Prior Butler :)
