SORAHAN, Séamus SC (died July 5, 2009) - As we approach the First Anniversary of Séamus' death, his wife Maureen, his sister Úna and his extended family, wish to thank most sincerely all those who sympathised with them, sent Mass Cards, letters of sympathy and floral tributes. They offer their sincere thanks also to all who officiated and participated in Séamus' funeral. They are deeply grateful for the excellent care Séamus received from the doctors, nurses and staff in Peamount and Tallaght Hospitals and also for the excellent care and support he received at his home. The family especially thank the Bar Council of Ireland, the Judiciary and Séamus' colleagues and friends who organised, attended, officiated and participated in a special Mass held in his memory. They deeply appreciate and thank Séamus' friends and colleagues for their many kindnesses, their friendship and their home and hospital visits. They offer heartfelt thanks to their exceptionally kind neighbours and friends for their unfailing friendship and support. Séamus' family ask that this Acknowledgement be accepted as an expression of their appreciation and deep gratitude. The Holy sacrifice of the Mass and Prayers will be offered for your intentions. I had the privilege and the pleasure of meeting Seamus at the Four Courts in Dublin on one very happy occasion. We discussed illegally obtained evidence and wrongful visual identification on which Seamus was a leading authority, following the case be took to the Supreme Court in 1963. See The People (Attorney General) -v- Casey. 1963 I.R. at page 33. He was the outstanding criminal barrister of his generation, and he has not been replaced. He is sadly missed by all who knew him.
