To Des

Dear Des

Ingrid and I are so sorry to read of Joan's death. For all that it is a release from an increasingly intolerable situation, it is nevertheless a time of enormous sadness. It must be a great comfort to have Siobhan with you and, hopefully, the rest of the family quite soon. For ourselves, even if the weather permitted, we will not be able to make it to Maynooth or Kerry as we are off to Cambridge for my youngest brother's memorial service. But you will all be very much in our thoughts. Sadness all round!

Malcolm and Ingrid Ross-Macdonald
