A Truly Inspiring Teacher

Fr. Nolan was a kind, sensitive and interesting man, with a wonderful mind and a mischievous sense of humour.

He was a truly inspiring and creative teacher, with the capacity to foster free and independent thinking in those he taught.

I appreciated his interest in my professional development, and in recent years enjoyed meeting up with him occasionally for coffee as friends.

My thoughts are with his family and friends at this sad time.

Justine McCarthy Woods

BA (Psych.) 1982

The passing of a great teacher

Fr Nolan shared his great learning, his inquiring mind, his quirky sense of humour and his kind ways with all of students of psychology at UCD in the early seventies. I have especially fond memories of his encouragement of our efforts in experimental psychology at Thornfield. As he said at a small dinner for our class around the time of our graduation " now you have a license to read" . He was a really fine teacher. Deo Gratias.

Jean Duff

a supportive advisor

Fr. Nolan took a special interest in the small group of Science students who took Psychology when it was added to the Science degree from 1970. I was a part of the Science Psychology cohort from 1971-74, and served as a class rep for our group. Fr. Nolan was very supportive of our group and gave freely of his time to support and advise us. We were very appreciative of this. RIP

Liam Bannon class B.Sc. (Psych.) (1974)
