While I am dozing by the fire,
in the fading evening light
and as the gleaming of the day
sinks slowly into night,
my mind meanders back in time,
to friends, some old, some gone,
to happy days,
to joyful times
of music dance and song.
The joys and sorrows
that prevailed,
as sweethearts came and went.
Somethimes I wish I could relive
those happy hours we spent
But time moves on
It can't stand still
and memories fade and die.
So Welcome to the future
fond thoughts to days gone by.
