DELANEY (Paul R, Lt. Col.,) (Summerhill, Athlone, July 23, 2007) - Clare, Brian, Killian, Paul's brothers, sisters, extended family and Clare's family would like to thank most sincerely those who sympathised with us on our heartbreaking loss of Paul. We very much appreciate the love and support we have received from our neighbours and wonderful friends, those who have and continue to comfort us during these difficult times. Sincere thanks to all who called to the house, attended the removal and funeral Mass, especially those who travelled long distances. Thanks also to those who sent Mass cards, floral tributes, messages of sympathy, donations to Carmona Services and those who have thought and prayed for us. A special word of thanks to Lt. Gen. Dermot Earley, Chief of Staff of the Defence Forces, Brig. Gen. Ralph James, General Officer Commanding the Air Corps' and members of the Air Corps who made it possible to bring Paul home from France. Also the Garda Siochana for providing the outriders who escorted the funeral cortège. We are very grateful to all of those who participated in the funeral, especially the priests who assisted Clare's brother Fr. Ivan Tonge, those who provided the special musical tributes, the servers and Seamus Flynn Undertakers for their professional and compassionate care. To Paul's comrades in the Defence Forces and in particular Brig. Gen. Padraig O'Callaghan, General Officer Commanding the 4th Western Brigade, Officers, NCO's and PTE's of the 6th Inf. Bn, members of the 4 Brigade military police company, Paul's classmates from the 52nd cadet class who acted as pallbearers and his colleagues in the Nordic Battle Group. Our heartfelt appreciation for the honour you afforded Paul. A special word of thanks also to those who assisted with the catering both at home and in the officers mess Custume Barracks. While we would like to thank everyone individually, this would be impossible, please accept this acknowledgement as an expression of our appreciation and heartfelt thanks. The Holy Sacrifice of the Mass will be offered for all your intentions.
