WOODHOUSE, Hugh Frederic (Eric) (D.D. F.T.C.D.) May 16, 1912 - Oct 8, 2010 (peacefully) in his sleep at Vancouver BC, Canada; much loved and missed by Kathleen (Kitty), children Hugh (Brighton, England), Charles (Hobart, Tasmania), Dorothy (Vancouver) and grandchildren and great-grandchildren on several continents. Professor Woodhouse was born at Dublin, Ireland and educated in Ireland for teaching and the priesthood. He spent the majority of his career in theological education and writing at posts in Toronto, Vancouver and Halifax Canada before returning to Ireland in 1963 to become the Regius Professor of Divinity at Trinity College, Dublin where he made numerous contributions to theological education and college life, in particular, opening the college chapel to all denominations and faiths. He established many ecumenical relationships in Ireland and was a source of inspiration to his many students around the world. Upon retiring from Trinity College, he and Kitty returned to Vancouver where he had a long retirement enjoying continued intellectual and sporting interests until his recent illness. A Memorial Service will be held at St Anselm's Church, 5210 University Blvd., Vancouver , October 23 at 11:00 am, with a reception to follow.
