Remembering William

A few things I will remember William for...

Our walks & talksin the Kanawah forest

The hours of friendly yet sprited evening conversation, while enjoying highballswith my Grandmother and William on Tanner road

William was there for my Grandmother and helped her out in so many ways over the years. He became an addition to the family.

He was an incredible gardner. William knew his stuff when it came to botany. He was always willing to pitch in and help on a project.

Well that is just a few things of many that I will remember William for. His passing leaves a void in our lives and Tanner Road won't be the same . Years ago he planted a red wood tree in my Grandmothers yard. It is still thin but has shot straight up towards the canopy of the higher trees --reaching for thelight. Every time I see that tree I will think of William. Hopefully the tree will live for hundreds of years onward. Its the perfect memorial for a great guy.

Scott Bird--Winston-Salem, North Carolina.
