PERREM Mary Hilary (died September 21, 2011) - On the First Anniversary of her death, we, Mary's children, Eoin, Moninne, Aedamar, Iseult and Justin (Howlett) and her husband Colm O'Doherty, would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to our extended families, friends, neighbours and colleagues for the wonderful compassion, love and both emotional and practical support shown to us all during Mary's short illness and since her death. We would especially like to thank all those who attended her removal and funeral service, and those who sent cards, letters and messages to each of us. It is testimony to the impact of Mary's warmth that so many people shared their wonderful memories of her with us. Mary's death has left us, and many others, heartbroken but we draw comfort from her immense love, gentle wisdom and irrepressible humour, which live on in our hearts. We aspire to pass these qualities on to her grandchildren who miss her so much. We would also like to thank the Jesuit community in Milltown and the Benedictine community in Glenstal Abbey for their kindness and prayer."Listen my child,
with the ears of the heart."
(St. Benedict)

Shocked to hear the news

Dear Colm & family,

I can't tell you how upset I was earlier on today to hear the news that Mary had died and gone to God. I have some lovely memories of her in Milltown when we did the course together and then in the library. It was only last Easter that I met the two of you in Glenstall. She had a good heart and was a good soul. I have said mass for her.

Yours sincerely,

Brendan McManus SJ

Colm and family

It was with great sadness we only heard today of Mary's passing. She was truly a lovely lady in every sense of the word and we can't imagine the loss she is to everyone. May she rest in peace. Paul and Noeleen McElroy
