HILLERY (Michael) (Mike) (Professor Emeritus, University of Limerick) (Grange, Lisnagry. Co.Limerick and Miltown Malbay, Co. Clare) - May 24, 2007. On this Michael's special 70th birthday, his wife Kitty, daughters Anya, Siobhan, Michele, Una and Claire, their husbands, his beloved grandchildren, sister Joan, brothers Brian and Tom, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law and their extended family wish to express their heartfelt thanks to all who sympathised and supported them following their very sad loss of a wonderful husband, and family man. Our heartfelt thanks to the many friends and neighbours, who through their love and happy memories of Michael, gave us strength and succour at a very difficult time. Your warm support was greatly valued and it reaffirmed for us the respect, affection and love that so many people felt for Michael throughout his life. A special thanks to those who travelled to be with us, sent Mass Cards, perpetual enrolments, floral tributes, thoughtful letters, sympathy cards and to those who made generous donations to Cancer Research. We appreciate and are grateful to the staff and students of U.L who showed so clearly that they held Michael in high regard and also members of other universities both in Ireland and abroad; we sincerely thank the many priests and nuns present; the representatives of the various Boards, Institutes, Clubs and Committees, of which he was a member, who attended, his friends from the P.D's and other political parties, Ciaran O'Gorman's splendid choir and Fr. Dwyer who celebrated the Mass. The exceptional care and meticulous attention given so generously to Michael by Dr. Maeve Leahy and her team over the years will never be forgotten and we will also always be grateful for the loving kindness of all staff in the Day Unit and Ward 4b of the Regional Hospital, Limerick. We thank Gerry Griffin, Funeral Directors for their sensitivity and attention to detail. Finally our thanks to everyone whose lives he touched and were saddened by his passing. May he rest in peace. Mass has been offered for all your intentions as a token of our lasting gratitude. A Thiarna deán trócaire.
