Thank you Mr McDermott, you had a MASSIVE impact on my life. I was a pupil at the Holy Family in the 1980s and I still give thanks for having the privilege to have been taught by you. I can still 'see' you in my mind sitting at a desk, wearing a grey suit, reading aloud A Love Song for J Alfred Prufrock - it awaken a lifelong love of poetry. I would imagine that you had no idea of the impact you had on me, a mousy indiscript girl from Newbridge. Thank you for dedicating your life to opening the world for us and giving us the opportunity to have a richer experience of life. I am now in my mid fifties and still think of you with much fondness and appreciation.

Farewell Mr. Mac

My sincere condolences to Mr. Mac's family and friends, particularly Fr. Joe. Ollie McDermott made a profound impact on me, teaching the love of learning through reading poetry and prose. He was one of the finest educators I have ever met, either in Ireland or here in South Lake Tahoe, Calfornia, where I've been working in the education arena for almost 20 years. May he rest in peace.

Ollie,

You always were a "special" person. I enjoyed going around the Bay Area in your and Dermot's company whenever you visited on this side of the pond. Both of you are an integral part of this extended family. Watch out over us, Ollie. Dermot come visit us. Fondly. Clare

Thinking of You

As an extended part of the Kinsella-McDermott family here in California I can honestly say that Oliver was like an uncle to me. He was one of the most generous, giving and loving men I know. There was never a trip to Ireland without seeing Ollie and Dermott. My heart is heavy with the news of his passing. I just wanted to send all my love to Dermott and the rest of the family. He will so be missed, but I am sure that he is watching over us all. xoxoxo Tish

Uncle Ollie

I wish I wasn't so far away in California, but I am grateful I was able to be there last week to spend some quality time with him. He was a special Uncle to me, I admired the way he followed his own compass and lived life to the fullest. I loved his humor and will hold dear the many moments we spent together in laughter. I will continue to celebrate the amazing person he was so that his spirit will live on in my heart. All of my love to Dermot, the family and all of the friends that that he called family.

In Peace,

Elizabeth Kinsella

San Francisco, California
