FARRELL, Comdt. Tom. (Cabinteely) January 12, 2009. As Tom's first anniversary approaches, his wife Adrienne (Murray) would like to thank our families, relatives, friends and colleagues who supported us in so many kind and loving ways throughout Tom's illness, at the time of his death and since his sad loss. To the many people who offered prayers and Masses, sent letters of sympathy and made donations to the Irish Cancer Society and overseas humanitarian aid, I am deeply grateful. A very sincere thank you to the huge numbers who attended Tom's funeral services especially those who travelled long distances including Helen, Gerry and Kiki. Tom would have been delighted to see such a gathering in his honour. Words are inadequate to express the wonderful care and support that Tom received from his Army friends and colleagues both serving and retired. My immense gratitude to the Army Medical Corp., in particular, Lt. Col. Chris Browne (retd.) who in the most caring and gentle manner attended to Tom's every need. My grateful appreciation to the medical team at the Beacon Hospital for their care to Tom during his period of treatment. The tremendous support and genuine concern that Tom and I received from Brig. Gen. Dennis Murphy GOC 2 E. Bde. will never be forgotten. The military funeral services were not only a magnificent tribute to Tom and the highest praise is due to all sections of the Irish Defence Forces who attended to the services and the reception at the Officers Mess, Cathal Brugha Barracks in the most professional manner. To the Army School of Music, for whom Tom had a special regard, thank you for the very moving musical arrangements and to Cpl. David Martin for the beautiful singing. Tom would have been so proud of all his colleagues for their attention to every possible detail. To each of you, I extend my heartfelt appreciation for all your assistance and support. Special words of appreciation also to my own colleagues particularly the staff of AIB UCD, Eamonn Ryan and Declan Lawler for their wonderful support and kindness to me. Thank you also to the management and staff of UCD and customers of AIB UCD. I would like to particularly thank Bishop Raymond Field for his long friendship and spiritual support to Tom. Also my immense thanks to Mgr. Eoin Thynne, Rev. Aisling Shine, Army and UCD Chaplains and Priests who concelebrated Tom's Requiem Mass in such a moving and dignified manner. My sincere gratitude to Archdeacon Rountree, St. Patrick's Powerscourt and Aisling who very kindly arranged Tom's final place of rest. To my mother Carmel, Enda and Noel, Deborah and Eamonn and close friends whose kindness and love for Tom and myself knows no limits, thank you for all your goodness from the bottom of my heart. Tom loved life, enjoyed every day and lit up the room wherever he was. While his light has dimmed, his effervescent spirit lives on with all those who loved and knew him and he will never be forgotten. As it would be difficult to thank everyone individually I trust this acknowledgement will be accepted by all with my most sincere appreciation. The Holy Sacrifice of the Mass will be offered for your intentions. Tom's Anniversary Mass will be celebrated at 10.30 a.m. Sunday January 10, 2010 at St. Brigid's Church, Cabinteely. My Beloved Tom,
Always thinking of you,
Always missing you,
Always love you.
Adrienne.
