A Life Well Lived

Stephen,

You once told me that one should pass through this world in the same manner as the American Indian, leaving no trace behind. However, having known you for more than 40 years I have to say that this was not the case for you.

You were active in many areas (architecture, art, drama, law, conservation and media analysis, of those that I know) and in each made significant contributions which will be remembered and valued long after your death.

More importantly still, you were someone who was always willing to help others and their causes, often without regard to the cost to you. In particular, you gave yourself to the cause of Ireland's environmental heritage and the many fruits of this have become your heritage.

You were a good and gentle friend to those around you and our world has become smaller since your passing. We will all miss you.

My deepest sympathy and condolences to those you have left behind

Rod Bergl
Chicago
