MURPHY Sr. Bernadette, SSL (Sister of St. Louis for 56 years), died unexpectedly, on March 2, 2010, at Our Lady of Malibu Convent, Malibu, California. Born June 18, 1935 in Monaghan, Ireland, Sr. Bernadette entered religious life in 1954. She was an educator in elementary and high schools, as well as Director of Field Education in St. John's Seminary and Director of the Secretariat for Educational and Formational Services in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles. Sr. Bernadette is mourned by the Sisters of St. Louis; Associates of the Sisters of St. Louis; her sisters, Anne Sedgwick, Dympna de Cogan, Helen Murphy, brother-in-law, Gerard Sedgwick, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, March 20 at 1:00 p.m. in St. Macartan's Cathedral, Monaghan. Burial will follow immediately in Latlurcan Cemetery, Monaghan.
