MURPHY (Maj. Gen. Michael J.) (Athlone and Scropul, Mullagh, Co. Clare) - As we approach the First Anniversary of his death, the family of the late Michael (Georgie) wish to thank all those who supported him and us in so many ways. Special thanks to the priests, Br John and all staff at St Camillus Nursing Centre, Killucan for their gentle care during Michael's final weeks and for the celebration of Mass before his removal to Athlone. We are grateful to Fr James McKiernan for officiating at the funeral reception ceremony at Our Lady Queen of Peace, Coosan, Athlone. Thank you to Fr John Cullen for celebrating the funeral Mass and for officiating at the burial ceremony in Coosan. Very special thanks to Lieut. Gen. Sreenan, Chief of Staff of the Defence Forces, to Brig. Gen, Swords and all the men and women of the Defence Forces who contributed to Michael's final tribute from the Army. The spectacle of gun carriage, brass band, Guard of Honour and final salute were truly memorable. Thank you to Retreat Nursing Home for their care of Eilish, recently deceased, and to retired N.C.O.'s, friends and neighbours who helped in so many ways, including those who made donations to St Camillus' Patient Fund. The Holy Sacrifice of the Mass has been offered for the intentions of all.
