The memories you left me with are serving me well today. You were a great trainer not only with the rider the horse as well. You had a great gift of understanding your pupils as well as the horse. You will never be forgotten.

My cousin Iris kellett

It was with great sadness that I learned of the death of my cousin Iris kellett. I remember her and her father Uncle Harry from the early 1950's. We met at her riding stables in Dubin, at the Eblana bookshop in Grafton Street or at her home Daffy lodge for diner. Her first husband Ben was an eloquent man, a poet and player of the Irish harp. Iris was proud of her equestrian achievements and her development of young riders, horses and equestrianism in Ireland. The family were so proud of her. In her later years she was tickled pink to receive the Hon. Doctorate of Science from Limerick University "why me" she wrote me in a letter with her characteristic modesty and humour. We corresponded regularly in her later years. Her memory and the development of Parkinsons disease shortened her letters tremendously. We last met in 2002.I will miss her.

Derek Holmes
