ARMITAGE, Ann Helena, late of Knockearl, Cloughjordan, Co Tipperary. Ann's husband John and his family wish to thank most sincerely all those who helped and supported us in the days after her unexpected death (The sad news, announced in all the Cloughjordan churches, produced a most generous out-pouring of sympathy and practical assistance). The McKenna family carried out the slightly unusual funeral arrangements with understanding and efficiency. Our friends provided food for hospitality and also cared for grandchildren. Ann would have been amazed at the warm and appreciative tributes paid by the many people who came to the funeral home, the crematorium and the memorial service. We had prayers and hymns at Ann's bedside during her last few days in hospital and also at the removal to Borrisokane and cremation in Little Island, Cork. In all this we were led by our minister Rev. Brian Griffin and his colleague, Ann's special friend, Rev. Tom Kingston. Canon Stephen Neill printed the Order for the Memorial Service. He shared in that celebration and opened to us St. Kieran's hall for serving refreshments and his parish made a very generous contribution to our appeal for funds towards cancer research. We appreciated Father Tom Hannon's presence at Borrisokane and his kind letter of condolence. To all the senders of letters, sympathy cards and Mass cards we say a sincere "thank-you". The Community Choir led the singing of the five hymns at the memorial service and this fulfilled Ann's dearest wish for lots of music at her passing. Relatives and friends from England and from distant corners of Ireland all came together to celebrate Ann's happy life. We thank Dr. Charles Murphy for his thorough and vigilant monitoring of Ann's health over the years and also the kind and dedicated staff of the Bon Secours and Galway Clinic Hospitals who supplied care of the highest standard. As it would be impossible to thank everyone personally, we trust that this acknowledgement will be accepted as a token of our gratitude.
