SHERIDAN, Dermot Patrick (Wooly), Blackwater, Ardnacrusha, Co Clare who died on April 1st 2009 - Carmel, Katherine, David, Breda, Pat, Sharon and family, Jimmy, Mai and family want to extend our heartfelt gratitude to our cousins, dear friends and neighbours for your overwhelming love and support for us during the immediate days after Dermot Patrick's death and for your continuing care, support and prayers since that sad day. A sincere thank you to An Garda Siochana, the Emergency Rescue Services, Naas General Hospital, the European Helicopter Academy, the clergy who visited us at home, who concelebrated the funeral Mass and who officiated at the graveside, McMahon's Funeral Directors, all Derm's family and friends who participated in the wonderfully uplifting and deeply moving funeral Mass and our neighbours who opened and closed the grave with love and with respect for his passing. We want to say a particular thank you to everyone who cooked and brought such wonderful food to Blackwater and everybody who helped to look after and cater for the hundreds of people who travelled from all over Ireland and from England, the US and New Zealand. Dermot was an enthusiastic and accomplished sportsman and the guards of honour formed by his rugby team mates from Monkstown, Shannon, LIT, UCG, CRC Roscrea and his hurling club St Nicholas' Parteen was an edifying and memorable tribute to his love of sport and to the appreciation and affection that you so evidently had for him. We were delighted to meet the hundreds of people who came to Blackwater for Dermot's wake - so many people, young and old and so many with their own Dermot anecdote, we heard stories from his hunting, fishing, soccer, golf, school and college friends. It is true that his life was a short twenty-four years but it was a very complete life, full of fun and character and he has left us so many wonderful memories. We received so many Mass Bouquets, letters of condolence and support, floral tributes, telephone calls and personal visitors that it is difficult to thank everyone individually and we ask that you accept this acknowledgement in appreciation of your kindnesses to us and your regard for Dermot Patrick. On May 22nd and 23rd Masses will be offered for your intentions and for the happy repose of his soul in Cistercian College Roscrea, Glenstal Abbey and Blackwater."Though we cannot see you
with outward eyes,
We know our soul's gaze is
upon your face,
Smiling back at us from within
everything
To which we bring our best
refinement".
