FANNING (Gerard) (Waterloo Mews, Dublin 4) - At this time, on the first anniversary of Gerard's sudden and premature death, his parents, Stephen and Kay and sister Mary, wish to express their most sincere gratitude and thanks to all those who sympathised with them personally and provided such wonderful support following their great loss. Our thanks to all those who attended the removal from Stafford's Funeral Home to Corpus Christi Church, Griffith Ave, Mass and funeral to Glasnevin Cemetery, many of whom travelled long distances to be with us. Thanks also to those who called to the house, sent Mass cards, floral tributes, phoned us and sent very touching letters of sympathy. Thanks to all who attended from the legal profession, newspapers, RTE, serving and retired members of An Garda Siochana, also authors and publishers. A special thanks to the Gardai at Santry for their help and provision of a motorcycle escort on both days. Our heartfelt gratitude to the priests of Corpus Christi Parish; to Mons. V Loakman, Washington D.C. chief celebrant of Funeral Mass and to Canon O'Connor, Drumcondra; Fr P. Comerford, P.P., Co Kilkenny; Fr Michael Drennan S.J. Milltown and Frs. J. Kennedy and R. Egan, Mount Argus. A very special thanks to Paul Williams, author and Crime Correspondent, Sunday World for the lovely eulogy he gave at the funeral Mass and his help during this difficult period, also the beautiful tribute he gave Gerard in his latest book. Our sincere thanks to Jean Healy-Joyce Soloist, who travelled from Tuam, Co Galway for the Mass and to the Church organist. Thanks also to the Directors of Stafford's undertakers for their courtesy and efficient service. Finally, thanks to all those who attended the first anniversary Mass at Corpus Christi Church, Griffith Ave on Sunday October 23 last. As it would be impossible to thank everyone individually we trust that this acknowledgement will be accepted by all. We appreciate how privileged we are to have such good friends. The Holy Sacrifice of the Mass will be offered for your intentions.
