Rest in Peace Garret

I always felt that whatever you had to say was worth listening to. You seemed to stand out among your peers, intellectually, as a statesman, and in many other ways. I was proud of you as Taoiseach. You represented Ireland so well and achieved so much. Your job is done now; rest in peace.

the Passing a great stateman, father and loved granfather.

Mark, Mary, John and your extended families. It was with sadness I heard of your father death. This country has lost one of its greatest statesmen, who i much admired. It was great to have met him when he was a patient in Tallaght Hospital coronary care unit, feburary 2009,where I work and to have got to know him personally. I am now sure he is delighted to be reunited with your mother Joan.... her ear will be withered with all the news he will want to tell her fast. I regrete I cant be with you in person for Garret Funeral asI have to be present here in the hospital. (AMNCH) Fr.
Independence of mind body spirit concern

A representative of all that is best in society with a deep social concern which also stretched to the so called Third World, through the Lome Convention etc. at Eu level and with a knowledge of the exploitive economic structures which produce inequality even degradation..And not afraid to express it to his own cost also.

The wonder is that a man of such independence of mind body and spirit should have been in politics at all. A terrible loss. But perhaps another level will gain.
