MURPHY, John Joseph ('Nanny's John') - August 15, 1928 - February 24, 2010, (of Clonegal, Co Carlow and Birmingham, England) (peacefully) at St Mary's Hospice, Selly Oak, Birmingham. Husband of the late Maura, beloved and much missed father. Today we are, again, a family deep in grief and mourning. We pay tribute to you, to your wit and wisdom and thank you for your guidance, your generosity, but most of all your love.

'The curfew tolls
the knell of parting day,
The lowing herd winds
slowly o'er the lea
The ploughman homeward
plods his weary way
And leaves the world
to darkness and to me.'

Tá mé ag briseadh croí.
Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam dilis.

Condolences

To know you was to love you. That was our great good fortune. It was my privilege to be your daughter, I am proud to bear your name, that was never negotiable. I love you and miss you dreadfully. Whenever I needed a 'Shelter in a Storm' you were there. God bless you, the world will be a lesser place without you.
