Mr Sutton removed my right cataract in 2008. I will always remember his courtesy and professionalism in talking to me both before and after the operation. He was able to put my mind at rest. I will be for ever grateful to him. Adrian S

Mr Sutton

I have only recently heard of Mr Sutton's passing coincidentally through my ophthalmology colleagues in Birmingham.

I was a long-term patient under his care from my birth until late teenage years, during the 1980's and 90's firstly at Heartlands and then latterly at Goodhope. I will always remember his gentle manner and compassion.

I extend my condolences to Mr Sutton's family.

Julia Tynan, medical secretary, Warwickshire.

He was a great surgeon and teacher

I was fortunate enough to be taught by Mr Sutton at the BMEC. Even though it was over 10 years ago I still remember his enthusiasm for ophthalmology and his surgical skill.

I wish all the best for his family and may his spirit live on forever.

Mr Sutton

Sad to hear of Mr Suttons passing. He was a truly lovely man.I did my pre-registration year at Birmingham and midland eye hospital and I remember him being very nice to me.Being Irish he always asked me about home. Years later I saw him regularly walking his dogs along the canals.I never did stop to say hello not wanting to impinge on his recreation time.I wish I had.

Ar dheis De go raibh a anam dilis.

Peter Quinn
