COLL - (née Byrne), Joan. Belfield Gardens, Ennis Road, Limerick. On the 25th of August in her 103rd year, Joan closed her eyes peacefully for the final time in the tender care of the staff of Carrigoran House, Co. Clare and was reunited again with her beloved husband Bob, her sisters Rosaleen, Elsie, Angela and Celine, her parents Frank and Christine, and the many cherished family and friends she has missed for so long now. Known fondly to everyone as Auntie Joan, she was surrounded to the end of her life by the love of three generations of her family who simply adored her, especially her daughter Mary, son-in-law John Battles, granddaughters Ellen and Katherine, their partners Daniel and Jack, her nieces Anne Hayes and Mary McShane, nephews Edmond and Frank Sheahan, their husbands and wives Eugene, John, Rosemary and Mary, their children and their grandchildren, all of whom, along with their own families, enriched Joan’s life immeasurably in her later years. Rest In Peace. Reposing at Griffin’s Funeral Home, John’s Gate, on Friday, August 28th, from 5pm to 6.30pm. Joan will return to St. Mary’s Church, Athlunkard Street for the final time where a Mass celebrating her life will be offered on Saturday, August 29th, at 10am, followed by Burial with Bob in Mount St Lawrence (Ext.) Cemetery.
