<p>ORSI, On Sunday, May 3, 2020, Bruno Angelo Orsi, loving father to Marcus and Michèle, passed away at the age of 85. Bruno was born on September 9th, 1934 in Llanelli, in the county of Carmarthenshire, South Wales to Vittorio and Angelina (Perego) Orsi. Bruno received his PhD degree in Microbiology at the University of Reading in 1959, and was a senior lecturer in Biochemistry at Trinity College, Dublin for 34 years. On July 22nd, 1960, Bruno married Margaret Ciotti in Baltimore, Maryland, USA. Bruno was an insatiable reader and had a thirst for knowledge that infused every part of his life, whether it was in enzyme kinetics, his passion for history and art or his love of Shakespeare. His desire for knowledge and understanding created an infectious curiosity for every part of life. This was evident when he and Margaret joined the Alpine Garden Society. As a young man Bruno was a very accomplished sportsman in many fields, including boxing, tennis, cricket and most of all rugby. Bruno played rugby for his school Douai Abbey and subsequently England School Boys, Reading University, Llanelli Wanderers and Swansea. However, the one sport that challenged him the most was golf, which he often referred to as “the true test for life”. Bruno was predeceased by his wife, Margaret. He is survived by his two children, Marcus and Michèle, his sister Iolanda and his grandchildren Joshua, Megan and Dylan and his loving partner Gillian. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Donations may be sent to UNICEF Ireland, 33 Lower Ormond Quay, Dublin D01 R283 “I am ready to meet my Maker. Bruno was one of the most special and interesting people I ever had the honour of meeting. Dinners with him were never boring- he always had something interesting to say. Thank you, Bruno, and goodbye.
