THORNTON (Crosshaven, Co. Cork) - November 23, 2014, peacefully at Cork University Hospital. Dr. Cyril (formerly of The Bon Secours Hospital). Dearly loved husband of the late Gerry, and much loved father of Sarah, John, Patch and Jane and loving friend of Laurel. Sadly missed by his loving family, sister Ann, son-in-law, daughter-in-law, grandchildren Sofia, lily and Frank, relatives and friends. Lying in repose at The Wilton Funeral Home, Sarsfield Road of Jerh. O'Connor Ltd. Removal at 7.00pm this Monday evening to St. Brigid's Church, Crosshaven. Requiem Mass at 9.00am tomorrow, Tuesday. Funeral afterwards to The Island Crematorium, Rocky Island, Ringaskiddy, Co. Cork. House private please."May he rest in peace".

Ann McNamara. Sorry to hear of Dr.Thorntons death, he delivered my 2 sons 30 yrs ago & was always a gentleman. Checked on me very often to see everything was o.k. May he Rest in Peace.

<p>With great sadness.</p> <p>I am greatly saddened by the news of the death of Dr. Cyril Thornton. He was a very kind and compassionate man. He always lent an ear and gave good advice when asked, especially after the death of my husband when I wasn't coping too well . He will be greatly missed.
