SMYTH S.J., Fr. James (St Francis Xaviers, Gardiner Street and formerly of Lauragh, Tuosist, Co. Kerry and Hong Kong) Fr. James passed away peacefully in the tender loving care of the nurses and staff of Cherryfield Lodge, Miltown Park on August 31, 2023. He is predeceased by his brother Richard, sister Sr Kathleen, his parents Tom and Frances. Fr. James was much loved and will be greatly missed by his sister-in-law Joyce Smyth, nieces Frances, Suzanne and Clíona, nephews Rísteard and Peter, niece-in-law Noreen. Breda, Eddie and Willie, grandnieces Emma, Alannah, Amy, Laura, Caoimhe, Jessica, Laoise and Teegan, grandnephews Finbar, Kevin, Richard, Harry, Tomás, Aidan and Odhran, extended family, many friends and his Jesuit Confreres. Rest in Peace. Reposing at Cherryfield Lodge this (Monday) afternoon (September 4) with prayers at 4pm prior to removal to St. Francis Xavier Church, Gardiner St. arriving at 5.30pm. Requiem Mass tomorrow (Tuesday) morning (September 5) at 11am followed by Funeral to Glasnevin Crematorium. For livestreaming of the Funeral Mass please visit the Gardiner Street Parish website.
