CAREW and BUCKLEY Sr. Imelda Carew and Sr. Paula Buckley, RIP - The Congregational and South East Provincial Leadership Teams, the Province Community, particularly the Sisters in Kilmahuddrick, together with the Carew and Buckley families deeply appreciate and thank all those who supported them in so many ways following the tragic loss of Imelda and Paula in a drowning accident on Inch Strand on August 14, 2014. We were overwhelmed and deeply touched by the outpouring of kindness and support and the countless messages of condolence which we received from all parts of Ireland and beyond. We thank those who phoned, visited our convents, prayed for us, those who sent floral tributes, Mass cards and messages of sympathy; those who attended the removals and Funeral Masses in Clonmel, Mountmellick, Clondalkin and Cashel. We thank chief concelebrants Bishop Denis Nulty and Fr. Joe Egan for their inspiring and consoling liturgies. We appreciated the presence of Archbishop Dermot Clifford, Bishops Martin Drennan, Seamus Freeman, Eamon Walsh and retired Bishop William Lee and the many priests who participated in the funeral services. We express our appreciation to the Church of Ireland Minister, Canon Barbara Fryday, who attended in Cashel. We thank Fr. MicheƔl Murphy and Fr. Christy O'Dwyer who facilitated the funerals in Mountmellick and Cashel respectively. We offer our sincere thanks to President Michael D. Higgins who sent a representative to each funeral. A special word of appreciation to Cardinal Brady, who celebrated Mass for Imelda and Paula in Mt St Anne's Retreat Centre and to Archbishop Diarmaid Martin who celebrated a commemorative Mass in Pius X, Templeogue for the religious of Dublin. We thank Fr. Aquinas Duffy, PP, Templeogue, CORI and the Carmelite Fathers in Terenure, for facilitating this event. We valued the presence of Fr. John Buckley, PP Inch at both funerals and his generosity in celebrating a Mass for Imelda and Paula in Inch Parish Church. We appreciate the many Masses celebrated for Imelda and Paula in various places. Our heartfelt thanks to the Leadership Teams and members of the Northern, South West and English Presentation Provinces and to all Presentation Sisters worldwide for their expressions of sympathy, support and solidarity. We appreciated the presence and support of so many who came to be with us in our deep sadness and loss: Religious Sisters and Brothers from CORI; parishioners, neighbours, friends and relations, colleagues, members of School Communities and of Presentation Projects, and representatives of local Organisations. We are indebted to the Presentation Communities and their staffs in Clonmel, Clondalkin and Mountmellick who facilitated the lying in repose of Imelda and Paula and to our Wainsfort staff who supported us way beyond the call of duty. We extend our special thanks to the rescue services: lifeguards, ambulance and helicopter crew for their tireless efforts to save Imelda and Paula. We thank the Doctors and medical staff of Tralee General Hospital, the chaplain Fr. Teddy Lenihan, Ms Caitriona O'Neill and her staff whose care on 14th/15th August was so much appreciated. Thanks to the Gardaƭ who helped in many ways. We acknowledge the efficiency and sensitivity of the Undertakers - Devitt Funeral Directors, Cashel and Moloney Funeral Directors, Mountmellick. We hope this acknowledgement will be accepted as a token of our heartfelt appreciation and gratitude to all who helped us carry our unexpected loss. Mass will be offered to invoke God's blessing on each one of you. We continue to pray for all those involved in or affected in any way by this tragic event. May Imelda and Paula
rest in the eternal peace
and love of God.
