Farewell Haydn...
To Olive and family, I was greatly saddened to hear today of the death of Haydn. He coached me for seven years from 1980 and I owe my successes in those years to him. His unique brand of Welsh wit and sarcasm, tempered with kindness and generosity and of course, an excellent knowledge of athletics and knowing how to motivate and get the best from people, made him an excellent coach. He didn't suffer fools gladly and I loved that about him! I left Ireland in 1987 to go and live in Luxembourg where I still live and unfortunately I lost touch with Haydn after that, but I will always appreciate his help and commitment in those happy years and will have very fond memories of him. May he rest in peace. Brian Dunne
