Fearghal Donaghy on behalf of Dublin University FC - Heartfelt condolences to Shirley's family. Shirley presented the trophy at our annual Prof Duffy Épée competition for many years. A wonderful woman. She will be missed.

Mark Kavanagh - I was honoured to be a fencing student at Salle Duffy from 1991 to 1996. Shirley not only taught me how to fence she also taught good manners. She was a bug influence on me. My deepest sympathies are extended to her family

John Bouchier-​Hayes - I first met Shirley as a 14 yea old teenager. I have so many memories of both her & her husband "The Prof" who acted as my teachers/​coaches, my mentors and most of all my friends. Shirley was a true legend. RIP
