The news of Damian's end of life came as a great shock to the 1962 class of the Royal Academy of Art, Department of Graphic and Typographic Design in The Hague. We commemorate Damian as an inspiring friend and classmate, who, in addition to mastering the Dutch language very fast, masterfully mastered the design language in word, form and image in a short time. Especially the lessons of the teachers Van Keulen, Jansen and Van Tricht formed the key to his insight into the language of typography, form and its function. Damian belonged to the group of outstanding designers who see the Hague Royal Academy of Art as their alma mater. ‘Inter scientias non minima est typographia’ We think with great fondness of the time we spent with him. On behalf of the class of 1962 -1966, Jos Tigges
