Sincere condolences from the Carracher family in Tasmania, Australia. My Carracher ancestors came from Tandragee, County Armagh in 1856. My wife Suzanne and I were hosted at lunch by John in July 2005 when we visited Ireland. On the day Margot was playing golf so we missed the privilege of meeting her too. John's father, as he told us, spent many an hour at the table discussing farming with my aunt's husband Bert Williams from Mallalla, South Australia who, after the first war, farmed at Colehill. Bert stayed farming in Ireland for around ten years and would eventually have inherited the farm (run by the Stewart family in 2005 on our visit) if he had stayed on. John and Margot came to mind again today when our daughter Emma was notified she would play the part of Nell in "The Endgame", which we are sure you would recognise as one of Samuel Beckett's plays and it was one our daughter studied at university. We recall John telling us Margot was Beckett's first cousin and we have a video of the sketch of Samuel on one of the walls in the house at Killashee. Should any family be travelling to Australia, especially Tasmania, we would love to meet them. Sincerely, Suzanne and Patrick. NB: A copy of the Beckett sketch photo is attached. If any family has the time and inclination, could they please clarify the relationship between Margot (nee Beckett) and Samuel Beckett. John told us, I think, that they were first cousins.
