Oakes (née Murphy) - Joan Kilcarn Cottage, Johnstown, Navan, Meath. After a long illness, peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, and the kind and attentive staff at Carechoice Nursing Home, Trim, Co Meath, retired physiotherapist and former President of the Irish Society of Orthopaedic Medicine (ISOM). Predeceased by her devoted husband Malachy (d. 2020), grandson Michael Malachy (McGrath) (d. 2021), parents Micheál and Mary Murphy of Bridge Street, New Ross, Co Wexford, brother John, and sister Mary (OShea). Joan will be deeply missed by her beloved children Jennifer, Robert and Edward, sisters Máiréad, Anne, and Bríd, brother Michael, grandchildren Anna, Tom and Emily, son-in-law Wesley, daughter-in-law Caroline, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, relatives, colleagues and many friends. Reposing at her residence on Wednesday, 18th February from 2pm to 7pm. Arriving at the Church of the Nativity Johnstown on Thursday morning for Funeral Mass at 11am. Burial afterwards in Old Kilcarn Cemetery.
