CANAVAN, (Castleknock and Ennistymon and former deputy principal of Drimnagh Castle C.B.S.) - July 12, 2014 (peacefully) after a short illness bravely borne, in the care of the staff at the Bon Secours Hospital, surrounded by his loving family, Patrick Joseph (Pat) beloved husband of Bea and devoted father of Niamh, Órla, Brian and Conor, predeceased by his brother Brendan and sisters Mary, June and Kathleen. Deeply regretted by his loving family, sons-in-law Clive and Shane, brothers Tony, Michael and Val, sister Anne, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, extended family and a wide circle of friends. R.I.P. Reposing at his residence today (Monday) from 12:00 o'clock to 4:00 o'clock. Removal to the Church of Our Lady Mother of the Church, Castleknock this (Monday) evening arriving at 5:30 o'clock. Funeral tomorrow (Tuesday) after 11:00 o'clock Mass to Glasnevin Cemetery. Family flowers only. Donations if desired to St. Francis Hospice, Dublin 15. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam dílis

Very sad to discover this, as one of Mr Canavan's former pupils, both as a Maths teacher and classmaster. He was always encouraging to me.
