ROLAND-CUNNINGHAM - Sheila (May 11, 2021). As Sheila’s First Anniversary approaches, her husband Martin joins with members of the wider Roland, Hogan, Cunningham and Ridley families in offering sincere thanks to all who expressed their sympathy at the time of Sheila’s death with Mass cards, Enrolments, sympathy cards, letters, phonecalls, texts, emails, and postings on the RIP website; thanks likewise to friends, colleagues and neighbours who have continued to give support. Grateful acknowledgement is due to the parish of St. Joseph’s, Glasthule, for welcoming Sheila’s funeral; to the celebrant Fr. John McDonagh for his moving homily; to organist, cantors, and all others involved in the ceremony; and to Quinn’s Funeral Home, Glasthule, for their unobtrusive support. Particular thanks to the limited number of invited relations and friends who were permitted to attend the funeral Mass; to those who could not attend, thanks also for their forbearance in the face of Covid restrictions. It was deeply touching, on emerging after the funeral Mass, to discover that numerous small knots of friends and colleagues had been standing in the church grounds, watching the ceremony on their phones. This opportunity is taken to extend deep gratitude to our GP, a source of support over many years; to specialists in St Vincent’s and in Beaumont who with their wider teams brought their expertise to bear on Sheila’s seemingly perplexing case; in particular, to Polio Survivors Ireland for their valued help and advice, to the Local Health Authority occupational therapist, to the speech therapist in St Vincent’s, and to the outreach nursing service of the IMNDA — all of these against a background of ongoing Covid isolation requirements. Finally, for Sheila’s last brief stay in hospital and the unpredicted catastrophic decline in her condition, heartfelt thanks to the doctors, nurses and other staff in St. Vincent’s Ward for their expertise and empathetic support. In the last year it has hardly been possible to bring people together as at a funeral in normal times. Now at last, those who are available and wish to remember Sheila collectively have an opportunity to do so on Saturday, May 14, in St. Joseph’s, Glasthule, at the 6.30 p.m. Mass which will be celebrated as a “Twelvemonths’ Mind” for Sheila,
