Fr. Gearty

To the Gearty family,

I was searching for information on Fr. Gearty whom all of us who attended St. Columban Church in Garden Grove, Calif. (when he was a priest there) loved so dearly. My mother, Aloha, was the secretary at the rectory when he was there and I remember how when he used to borrow her car to make a home visit he called it the "yellow bomb". He loved to be out on the playground with us kids at recess and we'd often see him bouncing a kick ball off his head (long before soccer or your version of football got really popular here in the states). I'm assuming since he is mentioned with Rose that she was maybe his mother. I just wanted you to know how truly loved he was for the short time he was with us and that my family was so glad that Fr. Murphy was able to see him in Ireland before he passed.

Sincerely ~ Mary Jo Monsimer Tucker
