Dear Grandad

We lost touch over the years - life has a way of complicating things. When I heard from your daughter and my mother that you died,I admit to not feeling anything but just that melancholy sadness. Not enough to cry,its been too long but you meant something to me. I will never forget those childhood years spent with you in Laragh. You were a lovable rogue to us as we got older, always fascinating and never a dull moment nor a empty glass of wine. When you died that chapter of my life those childhood carefree days of sheer abandonment and wonder spent in the hills and dales of Glendalough, they suddenly like the closing of a book ended that day. They dont seem like memories anymore-they seem to never of existed.Because when you lived those memories were always there. I will miss you Ian. I am sorry that we lost touch over the years. My condolences to the rest of the family.
