FINAN, Canon Thomas, Emeritus Professor of Ancient Classics, St. Patrick's College, Maynooth and formerly of Ballymoghany, Enniscrone, Co. Sligo, who died June 10, 2012 - The family of the late Canon Thomas wish to thank most sincerely the many people who offered their sympathy and support. We appreciate every letter, every phone call and every prayer that was offered. We are most grateful to everyone who travelled long journeys, attended the obsequies and accompanied Canon Tom on his last journey. We would particularly like to thank Bishop John Fleming for celebrating the Requiem Mass. Thank you, Bishop John, for your genial tributes to him and acknowledgement of his 55 years of priesthood and for your kindness to him during his sad illness. Thank you to the priests of Killala diocese, to Monsignor Hugh Connolly, President of St. Patrick's College, Maynooth and to all other priests who concelebrated the funeral Mass. We would especially like to thank Fr. Desmond Kelly P.P. Castleconnor, and Fr. Brian Conlon P.P. Lacken. Also thanks to the many Religious Sisters who attended the Mass. To the choir under Regina Deasy and organist John Cummins, thank you. Sincere thanks to David McGowan and staff for their courtesy, kindness and professionalism. Thank you to Canon Tom's colleagues and many friends from St. Patrick's College Maynooth who supported him throughout his illness. A heartfelt thanks to the Doctors, Nurses, Management, Chaplains and Staff of Parke House Nursing Home who cared for Canon Tom in such a professional and dignified manner. Many sincere thanks to all the kind neighbours, relatives and friends who offered their condolences and support to the family, We trust that this acknowledgement will convey our appreciation and thanks to all. The Holy Sacrifice of the Mass has been offered for your intentions. Bishop Fleming will celebrate Canon Tom's first anniversary Mass in St. Joseph's Church, Castleconnor, at 11am on Sunday June 9th.
