MOONEY, Joe (Joseph) (Glasnevin, Dublin and late of The Irish Times) passed away peacefully at home after a short illness on August 18, 2020 surrounded by his loving family; leaving behind his beloved wife of fifty years Stephanie, his children Frank, Freaya, Stephanie, Robert and Brian, sons-in-law, daughters-in-law, his nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, sisters, brothers, extended family and friends. Funeral took place in The Church of Our Mother of Divine Grace, Ballygall Road East last (Thursday) morning at 11.00 o’c Mass with burial afterwards at Glasnevin Cemetery. Family flowers only. Donations, if desired, to St Francis Hospice.

Very sad news. One of my favourite Irish Times people. Wicked sense of humour. We went back a long way, we both had roots in Capel Street, both of us as kids had lived in terror of my aunt Maureen whom he knew as Miss Fagan. Kieran Fagan
