LEENEY, Niamh (née Jordan) 6 July, 2024, Ardilea Clonskeagh, in the care of SVPH. Niamh went through a huge struggle with cancer over a long period and did this with strength and such an evenly based approach, never complaining about the reasons, only seeking to overcome the disease. She will be missed terribly by her family, Bob, Ruth, Aoibheann, Hugo and Genevieve, and her extended family, son-in-law Jeff and particularly her darling granddaughters Lottie and Heidi who brought her so much joy. The family would like to thank SVUH for their care and attention to Niamh in the days leading to her final crisis. Also, Prof. Janice Walshe and her team for their care and support for Niamh during her illness and particularly Prof. Walshe’s comprehensive approach to dealing with and communicating about her illness. We would also like to thank the palliative care teams both in SVPH and in Blackrock Hospice who took such gentle care of Niamh in managing her medicines and making her comfortable. She will be missed by her friends, her fellow artists and the many people whose lives she has touched in so many different ways. Reposing at home on (Wednesday) evening 10th July. Removal on Thursday morning 11th July to the Victorian Chapel, Mount Jerome, arriving for a 10 o’clock Funeral Service, followed by burial in Shanganagh Cemetery. Family flowers only, please. Donations in lieu to Irish Cancer Society and Blackrock Hospice.

LEENEY - Niamh - died July 6, 2024. On this, Niamh's First Anniversary, Bob, Ruth, Aoibheann, Hugo, Genevieve and Jeff would like to thank everyone who sympathised with us in our huge loss last year. We are grateful to our close family and relations, and to all our friends who supported us in so many ways, from frequent phone calls to deliveries of ready meals, to everyone who came to see Niamh at the house and to her service, to past colleagues of Bob, to those whose lives Niamh touched in so many ways, either through her art, her house and home building projects, her tapestry, her knitting for new babies, or those who valued her guidance as a teacher and carer in the development of their children as they went through Narnia, to those colleagues in the Early Years sector with whom she had such strong ties, to all who posted messages on RIP, and who sent cards and letters. We thank you for all you did for us and still do. We would also like to thank the Care Teams in Blackrock Hospice and St Vincent's Private Hospital, particularly Prof. Janice Walsh who guided Niamh through the ups and downs of her terrible illness. We miss Niamh dreadfully, particularly her granddaughters Lottie and Heidi for whom their Nini was such an important part of their lives.

We love you to the moon and back

and round and round the world.

LEENEY - Narnia Nursery School is very sad to announce the death of Niamh Leeney. Niamh founded Narnia Nursery in 1990 in the search for quality child care and education for children. She was one of the greatest advocates for the belief in and promotion of education and quality care for children from birth onwards and never ceased to fight for and promote the highest standards in delivering for children of all abilities. Over 35 years she has developed and overseen the growth of Narnia into one of the best early years providers and has maintained an ever-present, hands-on approach to ensuring that the needs of children and their families are met throughout their time in Narnia.

She was an educator both of children and the staff teaching the children. She believed that each child’s ability is unique and encouraged the acceptance of each child’s individuality as so important for life’s happiness.

She will be greatly missed by everyone in Narnia and by her colleagues and friends throughout the Early Years sector.
