WHELAN, Michael (Enniskerry, Co. Wicklow, former Headmaster, Sandford Park School, Dublin) – Jan. 23, 2020, peacefully, in the exceptional care of the Stroke Team at St. Vincent’s University Hospital, Dublin, loving husband of Ann, devoted father of Sandra and Lesley-Ann, father-in-law of Barney and Stuart, beloved grandfather of Bethany, Zoë, James, Alex, Mina and Seb and brother of Leslie, Helena and Declan; he will be fondly remembered and sadly missed by his family, nieces, nephews, extended family, friends and former pupils. A Service to celebrate Michael’s life will take place today (Monday) January at 3.30pm in the Victorian Chapel, Mount Jerome Crematorium, Harolds Cross, Dublin 6W. No flowers, please. Donations, if desired, to the Alzheimer Society of Ireland can be made at the funeral home and crematorium or online at www.alzheimers.ie.

Michael (Mil) MSC, (Western Road, Cork) On Mil's First Anniversary January 12, his brothers and sisters John, Dave (Dr. Dixie) Margot, Pat, Mary and their spouses, Clare, Valerie, Tony Gaffney, Terry MacManus, Hilary McCarthy, nieces, nephews, extended family and MSC Confrères thank most sincerely all those who supported us in our sad loss, who attended his Removal and Concelebrated Requiem Mass and Funeral at the Sacred Heart Church, sent Mass and Sympathy cards, wrote letters, phoned and who travelled long distances to be with us. Thank you to his wide circle of friends, everyone in Mount Desert where he was Chaplain and our many neighbours and friends whose continued support is much appreciated. A special thank you to the Ambulance Service, the A&amp;E team at CUH, Jer.O'Connor &amp; Sons Funeral Director, his fellow MSC priests Fr. John Fitzgerald, Fr. Michael O'Connell and Fr. Chris Coleman for their gentle support that day. Mil was a loving son of the late Gerald and Ellen Whelan, Douglas, Cork, beloved brother, uncle, granduncle, cousin and loyal friend to many. His infectious humour and compassionate nature are greatly missed and will be by all who knew him. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam dílis</p>

<p>Lismore 2016</p> A lovely day for the three of us “strachalling “ around East Cork and West Waterford. A day filled with laughter, fun, stories and good food. It was our last day out together. A happy memory we will always cherish.

We feel so blessed to have had Mil in our lives as a wonderful friend. We have many happy memories of all our time together. We treasure these and will always remember Mil with a smile with the knowledg of having met a man who was a priest.
