KEARNEY - Louis (Heath, Corries, Bagenalstown, Co. Carlow and Keenans, Borris) (died April 22, 2020). On Louis’s First Anniversary, his wife Teresa and children Brian, Órla, Enda and Geraldine together with their families and the extended Kearney family would like to offer their most heartfelt thanks to everyone who sympathised with and supported them on the sad loss of Louis.

Special thanks to the wonderful staff of the Mater Private, Beaumont and St Luke’s (Kilkenny) Hospitals, particularly Mr William Robb and Dr Brian O’Neill and their teams, for their exceptional care during the illness he bore with such fortitude, grace and determination. Thank you also to Dr Tom Foley, Louis’s lifelong GP and friend.

We wish to sincerely thank all our wonderful neighbours and many friends whose calls, letters and visits sustained Louis during his illness, and who turned out or got in touch with us to honour him in different ways during his funeral. We would especially like to thank his colleagues from Keenans in Borris for the guard of honour they formed as Louis made his final journey home, and again, together with the members of Ballinkillen Hurling Club and our neighbours and friends, as we made our way to the church for his funeral.

Thank you to Fr Declan Foley for his care and attention in organising and celebrating Louis’s funeral Mass. Thank you also to Fr John O’Brien for his friendship and support.

A special word of thanks to our undertaker Edmond Kearney whose empathy, professionalism and attention to detail in such unprecedented times ensured that Louis was honoured with a funeral befitting his wonderful life.

Throughout the past year, we have witnessed many different forms of kindness from people who, despite the constraints posed by the pandemic, went out of their way to support us following our loss. The cards, letters, telephone calls and many acts of kindness received are much appreciated and have been a source of great comfort as we mourn the passing of our much loved and sorely missed husband and father.

We are forever indebted to you all. The Holy Sacrifice of Mass has been offered for your intentions. Louis’s First Anniversary Mass will be celebrated at St. Andrew’s Church, Bagenalstown at 10:00am on Sunday, April 25, 2021 and can be viewed at http://www.bagenalstownparish.ie/webcam/.

We will gather again

in the fullness of time and together

bid a final farewell

to the “Lion King”.
